Fly into Muscat (usually with a connection). Nizwa is about 1.5 hours by car, Nizwa to the Wahiba Sands about 2.5 hours, on to Sur about 2 hours, and back to Muscat along the coast about 2 hours. You need a 4×4 for the desert.
